2011- 2012 Merit Program for Professional and Support Staff (PSS) and Management and Senior Professional Staff (MSP)
Program Highlights
Staff Human Resources is pleased to announce the 2011-2012 Merit Program for non-represented staff members. Retroactive to July 1, 2011, eligible employees in Professional and Support Staff (PSS) and Management and Senior Professional Staff (MSP) titles will receive a 3% merit increase.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a merit increase, a PSS or MSP employee must meet the following criteria:
- They are a non‐represented staff member in a career appointment who received a performance appraisal rating of “Satisfactory” or above for the 2010 – 2011 performance review period.
- They earn less than $200,000 in annual base salary.
- They were hired on or before January 1, 2011.
- Their employment contract includes language stating merit program eligibility.
- They are on payroll status at time of payout.
PSS and MSP employees are not eligible for a merit increase if:
- They received an increase to annual base salary between January 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011, (i.e. reclassified, promoted and/or equity increase)
- They received a performance appraisal rating of “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory”

Timeline

The effective date of the merit increase is July 1, 2011. Payroll records will be updated in October. The merit increase for October pay will be reflected on the November 1st paycheck, and retroactive pay from July 2011-September 2011 will be included on the November 8th paycheck.

- Q: I was hired in July of this year, am I eligible for a merit increase?
A: If you were newly hired to campus in July, you are not eligible for a merit increase. You must be appointed to a non-represented career position on or before January 1, 2011, to be eligible for an increase.
- Q: My supervisor didn’t complete my 2010-11 performance appraisal, how will that impact my merit?
A: If your performance appraisal is not completed by the time merit recommendations are due from your supervisor to the divisions, the default performance rating will be “Satisfactory" for purposes of the merit program.

- Q: What is the order of salary adjustments that have the same effective date?
A: If more than one salary adjustment takes place on the same date, actions occur in the following order:
- merit increases or, if applicable, salary increases for employees who hold temporary appointments
- salary action resulting from promotion, reclassification, transfer, demotion, or equity adjustment
- salary range adjustment
