Re:       Completion of the 2009-10 Furlough/Salary Reduction Program and
Extension of the START Program

2009-10 Furlough/Salary Reduction Program
Please be advised that the 2009-10 Furlough/Salary Reduction Program will officially end on August 31, 2010 for participating non-represented academic and staff employees.  For represented librarians, the Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan will end on September 30, 2010.

Furlough time will expire at the end of the furlough program and any unused furlough hours will not be carried forward.  Therefore, unlike vacation time or comp time, furlough time cannot be banked for later use and is not paid out upon separation from the University; furlough hours must be used by August 31, 2010 (or September 30, 2010 for represented librarians).  Additional information for both staff and academic employees is available on the SHR website.

START Program
As a reminder, the Staff and Academic Reduction in Time (START) program has been modified and extended through December 31, 2010 for the following groups of employees:

  • Non-Represented (99)
  • Clerical Employees represented by CUE (CX)
  • Research Support Professionals represented by UPTE (RX)
  • Technical Employees represented by UPTE (TX)
  • Patient Care Technical represented by AFSCME (EX)
  • Service Employees represented by AFSCME (SX)

All staff and academic employees (except those in faculty and student academic titles and Postdoctoral Scholars) with appointments of at least 55 percent time are eligible to participate in START.

START documents (brochure, Q&A, contract, and contract amendment) are available on the At Your Service website.

If you should have any questions, please contact your appropriate SHR Service Team or Divisional Academic Personnel Coordinator.
