UCSC Performance Appraisal and Development

Annual Call for Performance Appraisals - 2007/2008

Performance appraisals are required annually for all career employees and are an essential component of a successful performance management program.

New appraisal forms that were introduced for the 2006-07 review period included a standards section for managers and supervisors to be implemented in 2008.  This new section is to be used by those who manage other managers and supervisors and is to be completed for the current review period, July 2007 through June 2008.

There are four form options available for use, along with a self-appraisal form for the annual review and the probationary evaluation cycles.

It is important for Managers and Supervisors to consult with their Division to ensure they are using the form(s) recommended by that Division for the 2007-08 staff evaluation cycle (i.e., July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008).

Completed and signed performance appraisals should be submitted to the appropriate service team in Staff Human Resources (SHR) by close of business on Friday, August 15, 2008. Managers and supervisors who leave for the summer months or supervise staff on summer furloughs are encouraged to complete the required forms in May or June in order to meet the August 15 deadline.
