UC Conflict of Interest for Designated Officials Briefing
Frequently Asked Questions
This briefing, which takes about one hour to complete, is designed to help Designated Officials recognize and deal with conflict of interest situations that may arise within the scope of their University employment. More information can be found on the UC Regents Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services website.
Intended For: Approximately 1500 UC employees system-wide determined to be “Designated Officials” based on their ability to influence University decisions that may have a significant effect on their personal financial interests, as documented in the UC Conflict of Interest Code and approved by the Fair Political Practices Commission. UCSC positions considered to be Designated Officials can be found here: http://www.ucop.edu/ogc/coi/ucsc.html.
Notification: Each University Designated Official will be automatically registered to complete the Conflict of Interest Briefing. Emails with a link to the online briefing will be sent to individual learners. Newly approved Designated Officials will be sent the training link within sixty days of being added to the UC Conflict of Interest Code.
Frequency: After the August 2009 rollout, Designated Officials of the University of California are required to complete the "Conflict of Interest Briefing for Designated Officials" every two years.

- This online briefing can be taken using Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0, Safari 2.0 or higher, or Firefox 2.0 or higher browsers.
