Student Employee Recognition Award Program (SERAP)

SERAP 2007, Nomination Instructions for Supervisors of Students

The Career Center has announced this year’s Student Employee Recognition Award Program (SERAP). Supervisors have an opportunity to publicly reward and recognize their outstanding student employees who have dedicated, and continue to dedicate, their abundant talent and skills to UCSC. Additional information regarding the program is available on the Career Center web page.

Program Details

  • Cash awards may range from a minimum of $100 to a maximum of $2,000
  • All awards are charged to unit funds
  • Eligible student employees must be in good academic standing

Nomination Process

  1. The Supervisor nominates their student employee(s) in the Employee Request (ER) System, indicating the dollar amount. Only those divisions participating in this year’s program will have access to the SERAP nomination process in the ER System. Please confirm with your division/unit if you may nominate student employees.

Nominations must be submitted via the ER System by April 6, 2007.

PLEASE NOTE: Students should not be informed of their nomination until the Career Center has confirmed their academic status. Supervisors can track the progress of the award in the ER System.

  2. The HR Service Team Representative (HRSTR) will print a nomination roster from the ER System for each division/unit, and send it to the appropriate divisional contact.

Rosters will be sent to the divisions/units on April 11, 2007.

  3. The division/unit will confirm or change the requested award amount, indicate the fund source, sign and forward the roster to the Career Center.

Rosters are due in the Career Center on April 20, 2007.

  4. The Career Center will verify the student’s academic status with the colleges. If the student is not in good academic standing, and therefore not eligible for the award, the Career Center will notify the supervisor.

  5. The Career Center will send ceremony invitations and RSVP forms to the supervisor on April 23, 2007.

  6. The Supervisor returns the RSVP forms to the Career Center by April 30, 2007.

  7. The HRSTR will print the final approved roster from the ER system after the award ceremony. The roster will indicate eligible students, award amounts, and funds to be charged.

  8. The HRSTR will process the award payments on the July 6th pay check.
