Work-site is located off campus in the Staff HR building at 1201 Shaffer Road on the west side of Santa Cruz, CA.
The University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) is one of the 10 preeminent research universities within the University of California system. UCSC Staff Human Resources provides human resources policy, program administration and support services to all academic, research and administrative departments and their respective managers and employees.
Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor of Business and Administrative Services (BAS), the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Staff Human Resources (AVC SHR) is the chief staff human resources officer (CHRO) at UCSC in a time of significant organizational change. Working with senior leadership, the AVC SHR will lead, develop and manage progressive human resources services, programs and systems aligned with the university mission of teaching, research and public service. Establish the direction, policies and procedures of the Staff Human Resources unit and represent the campus at UC systemwide meetings. Areas of responsibility/oversight include talent acquisition, benefits administration, time and attendance/payroll, business systems administration, employee and labor relations, compensation, policy, training and professional development. With the implementation of the new systemwide payroll and HR information system UCPath, the AVC SHR will be responsible for aligning campus HR service delivery with the systemwide structure.
