Campus Only Recruitment
Under UC Policy PPSM 20 Recruitment, a recruitment may be limited to internal candidates to support career progress of qualified incumbent employees but must be consistent with equal employment opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action objectives and result in a pool of qualified applicants. Recruitment that is limited to internal candidates must be approved by the Chief Human Resources Officer in consultation with the Affirmative Action Officer to ensure compliance with EEO and affirmative action requirements. Proper recruitment practices ensure that the most qualified candidates are selected, guard against discrimination, and foster the attainment of affirmative action goals.

Conduction of a campus-only recruitment requires the approval of both the Assistant Vice Chancellor Staff Human Resources and Associate Chancellor, who serves as the campus Director of Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action.
Campus-Only recruitments should follow fair hiring and Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action best practices ensuring that all applicants are given full and fair consideration for the vacancy. A qualified, diverse pool of potential applicants must exist within the UCSC employee population and hiring units are required to engage in and document efforts toward broad campus outreach.
Contact your Staff Human Resources, Recruitment Specialist (RS) for information on the campus-only approval process. A list of RS unit assignments is available here, http://shr.ucsc.edu/employment/rec_specialists.html.
