Temporary Staffing Services

Campus units are strongly encouraged to fill vacant positions through recruitment; however, temporary staffing services may be used by campus units to fill short-term assignments expected to last less than 6 months. Assignment extensions require approval by the Staff Human Resources Employment Manager.

Spherion Staffing Services is UCSC’s primary service provider for filling administrative, professional, technical, and light industrial assignments. Units with specialize staffing needs should contact their divisional service team in Procurement & Business Contracts to identify other temporary staffing providers.

Temporary staffing agency personnel performing cash handling duties are covered by UC Business and Finance Bulletin 49-Policy for Cash and Cash Equivalents Received and therefore required to complete a California Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan criminal history background check in accordance with local procedures.

Your Employee & Labor Relations Analyst (ELRA) is available for consultation, as you consider the use of temporary staffing services.

Pros Cons
