Procedure Overview
All UC employees who are disabled from working because of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions are eligible for a leave of absence. Each pregnancy is different and pregnancy timelines are based on the employee’s UC appointment, enrollment in Supplemental Disability and chosen waiting period, sick leave and vacation accruals, and other variables. In addition, changing circumstances during a pregnancy could alter leave and disability options.
There are a variety of leave entitlements and leave options available to pregnant employees which can be used in combination with each other.
See appropriate personnel policy or collective bargaining agreements for criteria and conditions for pregnancy leave of absence.
