How Long Does the Classification Process Take?

Processing time begins when Compensation receives a complete Classification Review Package. The Compensation Analyst will strive to make the classification decision as quickly as possible while allowing ample time for careful consideration. Our goal is to complete the process within 45 calendar days from the date that Compensation receives the complete package, but most requests are completed in much less time.

Incomplete packages will be returned to the Department for completion, and will be logged in when received with all the correct documentation. 

The effective date of a reclassification is the first day of the month following receipt of a completed Classification Review Package in the Compensation office. The time necessary for noticing the union, if the position is to move out of the bargaining unit, will not affect the effective date.
