Academic Researchers (RA)

The Santa Cruz campus employs approximately 244 Academic Researchers positions. The University of California has voluntarily recognized the UAW 5810 as the exclusive representative of 4,674 academic researchers. The recognition follows campus consultation and multiple meetings with the UAW 5810 on the understanding of titles and positions that belong in the bargaining unit, ultimately resulting in a stipulated agreement. The University of California and the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) have agreed to a new five year contract. The parties will be finalizing the Agreement and assigning article numbers in the near future.
