Subject: California lifts Limited Stay at Home Order; Santa Cruz County remains in purple tier

The Limited Stay-at-Home Order announced in December has been lifted. The California Department of Public Health lifted the order Monday, stating that counties will now return to the guidelines and restrictions outlined in the color-coded tier system of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

Currently, Santa Cruz County is in the Purple Tier, which is the most restrictive tier, and the level the county and campus operated in before the Limited Stay-at-Home Order was issued. Our campus must comply with those guidelines of the Higher Education industry guidance that has framed our operations since fall quarter. Some operations within the campus have additional industry guidance that they must follow. As we were already in the most restrictive tier prior to the Limited Stay at Home Order, our operations were not notably impacted by the order and won’t be notably changed with the lifting of the order.

Thank you for all you are doing to support our COVID-19 response work and the patience and flexibility you have shown as conditions and requirements that frame our operations continue to change. And don’t forget to continue to support the health of our community with by following the key Slug Strong actions:

  • Complete your daily symptom check, if you are coming to a campus site
  • Wear a face covering
  • Abide by physical distancing guidelines
  • Avoid large gatherings
  • Do not come to campus if you are feeling ill
  • Regularly wash your hands
  • Participate in the asymptomatic testing program based on your eligibility
