Post-COVID Initiative Brings Opportunity to UCSC Employees

October 18, 2021

As the campus reimagines worklife after Covid-19, a new initiative will help to recognize the talents and aspirations of our community, and prepare them for achieving their personal and professional goals.

The Talent Readiness and Continuity initiative (TRaC) will follow staff careers, and encourage internal movement and growth. TRaC provides a set of tools to help managers identify skills and map possible career paths. It can potentially shorten the time to hire qualified professional staff, and will foster continuity and the retention of organizational knowledge across campus.

“Engaging and developing people is one of the primary purposes of Human Resources” says AVC Steve Stein, who is working closely with AVP- Academic Personnel Grace McClintock to shape a program that is sponsored by Vice Chancellor Sarah Latham and fulfills the vision of Chancellor Larive. “TRaC tools will support professional development, career movement and a fair and equitable policy around promotion.”

The campus will be rolling out the TRaC toolbox over a three year period, beginning in November.
