Internal Employment Opportunities

The UC-wide policy PPSM 20, Recruitment and Promotion, intends to foster career development in the UC system. An Internal Recruitment (aka Campus Only Recruitment) is a competitive process to engage qualified staff who are already members of our campus community.

If you are an active UCSC member, select the Internal Candidate Gateway link to view the job postings. The jobs that are available to current employees only have “(Campus Only)” in the job title, and employees will need to apply through the internal candidate gateway (via the link above) to be considered.

How it Works

  • Current UC Santa Cruz employees who wish to receive consideration for an internal recruitment must be actively employed on the day they submit their application and must apply during the internal recruitment initial review period.
  • Referrals for priority consideration will only be made if two or more qualified individuals apply. If fewer than two internal candidates apply, the external applicant pool will also be considered.
  • Ann Internal Recruitment will close without consideration of external candidates if the hiring manager selects an internal candidate.

How to Apply

It is very important that applicants are identified as a current UC Santa Cruz employee. To ensure your application is considered, you must use the Internal Candidate Gateway to apply. If you apply to an internal recruitment via the External Candidate Gateway, you will not receive consideration as an internal applicant.

  • Go to jobs.ucsc.edu and select the Internal Applicant button to view the internal recruitments in the TAM Internal Candidate Gateway. The Internal Gateway is located in UCPath, so you will log in with your CRUZ ID and gold password.
  • Employees can access the internal candidate gateway by logging into UCPath, selecting “Recruitment Workcenter” and selecting “UC Santa Cruz Campus Careers”.
  • New users will create an application and returning users should update all applicable areas of your application. [More about How to Apply].
  • Click the “Apply” button on the job posting and follow the instructions to submit your application.

NOTE:  As a condition of employment, selected candidates are required to successfully complete a criminal history background check and/or an Employment Misconduct Disclosure (EMD) check before starting in their new position. For more information, please refer to Personnel Policies for Staff Members 21- Selection and Appointment (PPSM 21).

While the process to apply for internal recruitment varies from a competitive recruitment, the hiring process is the same regardless of the type of recruitment. For information about orientation requirements for current employees, see Orientation for Current Employees.
