National Science Foundation Update for Post Doctorate Employees

25-02-05-national-science-foundation-update-for-post-doctorate-employees.Dear Colleagues,

We would like to inform you about important updates from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Last week, we learned that the NSF Award Cash Management Service portal has been closed. As a result, UC employees who receive direct payments from NSF are currently unable to submit payment requests or receive their monthly stipends.

A court order dated January 31, 2025, mandated that the National Science Foundation reopen its payment portal, which is once again accessible. We are monitoring how other agencies respond to the court order and will provide updates if we receive any additional information.

The NSF website features a page dedicated to the implementation of recent executive orders. This includes Frequently Asked Questions; please refer to question #5, which we have included below. We encourage you to visit the portal as soon as possible to ensure your February stipend is in good standing.

  1. Will Fellows (GRFP, etc.) receive their February stipend?

GRFP Fellows receive their stipends from their institutions. GRFP Fellows should contact the GRFP Coordinating Official at their institution regarding the disbursement of their stipend.

For all other Fellows:

  1. If you normally receive your stipend through your institution, please contact your institutional payment office.
  2. If you normally receive your stipend through ACM$, please log in and verify that your payment request has been accepted. You may need to resubmit your request.

Please reach out to your NSF Program Officer if you have additional questions.

Please find the PDF format of this update here.

Visit our webpage to locate your union contact information.

Thank you,

Employee and Labor Relations
