Staff Work Authorization
For UCSC employees whose U.S. Work Authorization is going to expire, UCSC, in compliance with law, requires a re-verification of your authorization to work in the U.S. This process is explained on the Re-Verification of Employment Authorization for Current UCSC Employees website.

Tracker I-9
Tracker I-9 is an online portal used throughout the UC system to manage compliance of the Federal I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms. This is a process that is required of all new and returning employees to verify their identity and authorization to work in the U.S. This portal helps process all I-9 forms digitally, removing the need for paper forms. Immigration Enforcement Action Response, Contact Notification and Additional Resources
In accordance with Assembly Bill 21 Public postsecondary education: Access to Higher Education for Every Student, provides the following information. For detailed information and additional resources, visit Immigration Enforcement Action Response and Emergency Contact Notification.
- If any student, faculty, or staff person obtains information that a federal immigration agent or DHS agent has, or plans to enter campus to enforce an immigration action, or an employee is being detained by such an immigration enforcement officer who wishes to interrogate, search or seize the person or property of any employee on the University’s premises, the Unit Head or Designee must immediately:
- Refer the individual to the Campus Counsel’s Office, at 831-459-1848, to verify a warrant, court order, or subpoena. (Please see additional guidance on how to respond to immigration enforcement actions in the UC Frequently Asked Questions for University Employees About Possible Federal Immigration Enforcement Actions on University Property and the Chancellor’s and EVC’s Communication re: Support for undocumented members of our campus community)
- Notify AB-21 Point of Contact, Chancellor’s Designee via phone at 831-459-7003 (currently AVC Garrett Naiman; and/or Back-Up AVC/Dean of Students, Lucy Rojas) for assessment, consult, and/or to convene the UCSC AB21 Response team. For urgent matters, call 831-502-5009, or deanofstudents@ucsc.edu, available 24/7.
