Managing for Employee Engagement
- Schedule regular touch base meetings and be available to answer your new employee’s questions and concerns, and allow them to share ideas/suggestions
- Set assignments and timelines
- Provide detailed instructions and discuss resources; ensure they understand what support they can expect for completing tasks and assignments, and that they feel comfortable reaching out for that support
- Hold weekly meetings to review performance expectations and initial performance, and provide coaching or guidance regarding goals and deliverables
- Ask for feedback from your employee about how things are going and if they are getting the necessary support from you and others to become proficient
- Discuss how and when you plan to increase the complexity and scope of work to assess your new employee’s ability to perform the full range of duties within the position, and allow them to react to your plan
- Contact your Employee Relations Analyst if there are any significant performance concerns
