Getting Started at UCSC
Below are links to some of our frequently used tools and services.
UCPath
UCPath stands for UC Payroll, Academic Personnel, Timekeeping and Human Resources. Within UCPath, you will interact with Employee Self Service, a self-service portal that will allow you 24/7 access to:
- view and print earnings statements
- maintain personal contact information
- view and manage benefits
- view and update tax forms
- sign up for direct deposit
- Life event changes
Employee ID
Your Employee ID is populated by UCPath and generally corresponds with your hire date. While we do our best to have your Employee ID ready for new hires on their first day, the information is processed off campus, so we cannot make any guarantees. Once you have your Employee ID, you will have access to Employee Self Service (where you will select your benefits), CruzPay (where you will enter your hours worked) and other campus tools, such as the UC Learning Center.
CruzID
Your CruzID is the key to many technology systems at UC Santa Cruz, including your official campus email address, multi-factor authentication and password recovery. Prior to starting your first day, you should have received an email to activate your CruzID and set up your Blue and Gold passwords. If you need help activating your CruzID, contact the ITS Support Center at (831) 459-HELP or help@ucsc.edu.
Your Staff ID card identifies you as a UC Santa Cruz staff member and allows employees use of the McHenry & Science Libraries. Cardstock ID cards can be requested from SHR using this form. Once you receive your Employee ID card, you’ll want to add your signature to your ID card and keep it with you when conducting university business on and off campus. Some units provide a keycard or you can purchase one from ID Services - please check with your Supervisor for more information.
CruzPay
You will use the CruzPay web portal to record your hours worked and access historical payroll records. You should receive an email notification with a link to the portal a few days prior to when your timecard is due.
- CruzPay Toolbox with Quickstart Guides and User Resources
- The Payroll schedule outlines pay period start and end dates, biweekly and monthly paydays, as well as university holidays
Campus Directory
Enhancing your profile in our campus directory takes action on your part. The campus directory contains contact information for all UCSC faculty, staff and students. Basic information is listed upon hire, but you can edit your profile to add your telephone number, department, title, office location, and mail stop.
IT Services and Support
The ITS Support Center is your single point of contact for all issues, problems or questions related to technology services and computing at UC Santa Cruz. Their website is loaded with helpful resources and they have a webpage dedicated to those that are new to campus. Feel free to reach out to them by phone or email, or open a ticket via their website.
Click HERE for COVID19 and Remote Working Resources.
Learning & Development
Learning and Development provides mandatory staff trainings through the Learning Center portal as well as a variety of professional and personal development classes and workshops. See an upcoming class schedule here.
Staff Advisory Board
The UCSC Staff Advisory Board (SAB) facilitates communication within the University Community on matters of interest to staff employees. To that end, they host periodic Chancellor’s Forums. Additionally, the SAB facilitates a Staff Mentorship Program, a volunteer program that pairs experienced UCSC staff from all campus units with newer staff who are seeking to develop themselves professionally. Elections are held annually.
Transportation And Parking Services
Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) supports the University's mission by providing access to UC Santa Cruz, acting as fiscal stewards, and managing the sustainable planning, design, and operation of safe and equitable bicycle/pedestrian programs, transit services, parking, and other transportation-related needs.
Find information about transportation and parking, check out the information for New Employees.
Ergonomic Safety
All UCSC employees who use a computer as part of their normal work activities are strongly encouraged to complete the UCSC online computer ergonomics training and self-assessment. This service is available for those working remotely as well.
