Getting Connected - System Access
There are many information technology services that new employees receive and use. The IT Services for New Employees guide provides an overview of the services available and how to access them.
Arrange for computer access and accounts (e.g., hardware, software applications, email, network connectivity, shared folders). Ensuring timely systems access for new employees is a critical step in their onboarding experience. Access to ALL essential tools and platforms allows new team members to begin their roles, enabling them to connect with colleagues, receive necessary training, and start engaging with their responsibilities seamlessly.
Note: Email account, CruzID with email address is delivered 3-5 days after entry into payroll system. No action required.
- Secure File Service access (if appropriate): submit an IT Request Ticket
- Add new employee’s name and contact information to shared directories, distribution lists, and email/calendaring systems
- Update campus directory (see "how-to" guide here)
- Employee should include emergency contact information
Discuss important IT policies and procedures
- For electronic communications, including information security, confidentiality and privacy issues review Acceptable Use Policy, Access to Information and Records Access Notice as appropriate
- Discuss computer security
- Be sure that your new employee completes online cyber-safety training. It will be assigned to them in their Learning Center account
