If your new EAD does not arrive before the expiration date on your expiring EAD, generally you cannot continue working. However, you may be eligible for an extension. It is important to note that an extension does not necessarily apply in every case. Additionally, it takes time to receive and evaluate your documentation to determine whether or not you are eligible for an extension. Therefore, it is crucial that you submit to us notices that you receive from USCIS as soon as you receive them, so that we have sufficient time to make such evaluations.

If you are unable to provide the University with verification of your authorization to work in the United States, generally you will be terminated from your employment. However, as noted above, you may be eligible for an extension, which would give you more time to secure work authorization documentation and thus potentially avoid termination.
