Graduate Student Researchers (BR)

The Santa Cruz campus employs approximately 646 graduate student researchers. These graduate student researchers play an important role in helping to fulfill the university’s research mission.

The new unit (BR) includes Graduate Student Researchers, Graduate Student Research Assistants, Fellows, and Trainees, who are employed by the University at all campuses and is represented by the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW 4811).

Currently, there are no active negotiations taking place for this bargaining unit. The current contract is in effect through May 31, 2025 and will be posted soon. Negotiations for the next contract will begin before the current contract expires.
