Re: Staff Appreciation and Recognition Plan FY 2022-23 (STAR Award)
Staff Human Resources is pleased to announce that the Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Award Plan has been renewed for FY 2022-23.
STAR awards recognize and reward excellence in University service, significant achievements and contributions, advancement of the UCSC's principles of community as well as outstanding individual and team performance. STAR awards are discretionary and cash awards do not increase the awardee’s base salary. The University does not place restrictions or conditions on an employee’s use of any cash awarded under this plan.
As a reminder, the STAR award funds were permanently allocated as part of the non-represented staff compensation equity program implementation; and central funds no longer contribute funding to divisions. This means that the STAR Plan will be funded by the department or division. Questions about the investment in the non-rep staff compensation equity program should be directed to Kimberly Register, Associate Vice Chancellor, Budget Analysis and Planning.
STAR Plan Guidelines for administering the program, along with the STAR Plan Nomination Spreadsheet for submission of cash awards are available on the Staff Human Resources website, Staff Appreciation & Recognition Plan.
Divisions and departments may begin to process awards immediately. This process does vary by division, so please communicate with your supervisors/managers directly regarding the implementation of the STAR Plan.
Nominations may be submitted at any time during the 2022/2023 fiscal year prior to May 26, 2023, and will be processed on the next available payroll cycle.
