Subject: Stanford & Anthem Blue Cross reach agreement on continuing contract
Update: This is an update regarding the previously announced termination of the Stanford Health contract and pertains to UC members covered by UC Care, UC Health Savings Plan with HSA, and CORE. Anthem has reached a new multi-year agreement with Stanford Health, and the terms of the agreement are retroactive to September 1, 2022, comprising the below referenced entities:
Hospitals – retro-effective September 1, 2022
- Stanford Medical Center
- Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital
Medical Groups – retro-effective September 1, 2022
- University Healthcare Alliance Medical Group
- Lucile Packard Medical Group
- Stanford Healthcare Medical Group
Stanford Health has been holding claims since they left the network. These claims will be released and processed utilizing the updated retro-effective agreements.
A letter will be printed on UC letterhead and sent to those who were notified of the termination. The purpose of this notice is to announce that Stanford Health is back in the Anthem Blue Cross network retroactive to September 1, 2022. If a UC Care, UC Health Savings Plan with HSA, or CORE member received a bill from Stanford and/or an Explanation of Benefits from Anthem Blue Cross for services rendered after September 1, 2022, for which they have questions about payment responsibility, members can call Anthem Blue Cross at the toll-free member services number, 1-844-437-0486, also printed on the back of Anthem medical ID cards.
(Note: Members enrolled in UC Medicare Supplement plans carried by Anthem Blue Cross were never impacted. Stanford continues to accept Medicare and that acceptance remains unchanged.)
