Centering well-being as the national election approaches

Dear Colleagues,

As we approach the national election, we recognize this can be a time of heightened emotions, stress, and intensity. It’s natural for events like these to bring forth a range of thoughts and feelings that may impact us personally and professionally. Your well-being is our priority, and we encourage each of you to take steps to care for yourselves and find the support you need.

Please know that your supervisors are here to support you, whether that means discussing and requesting adjustments to your schedule, requesting time off, or connecting you with additional resources. Open communication can help ensure that we meet our responsibilities while prioritizing personal well-being.

Additionally, consider setting aside time for self-care, whether it’s stepping away from screens, practicing mindfulness, connecting with loved ones, or simply taking a break. These small acts can make a big difference. Some available resources include:
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Individual Coaching Sessions with On the Margins
  • On November 6, the day after the election, the University Center Sentinel Room will be open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. for dropping in and connecting with colleagues. Refreshments will be provided. A provider from the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Critical Incident Stress Management team will be onsite and available to speak with staff who wish to connect as well.

Remember, we are in this together, and your health and well-being matter to us. If there’s anything we can do to support you, don’t hesitate to reach out.

In community,
Kamala and John
