Wishing you a joyful holiday season

Dear Campus Community,

Final exams are upon us, which means that winter break is just around the corner. I wish all in our community a strong finish to the quarter, and hope that you find time this holiday season to gather with family and friends or to do whatever it is that makes you happy. It is important that we take the time to care for ourselves and to appreciate the many joys in our lives.

The fall quarter has been a remarkable one for UC Santa Cruz, highlighted by two transformational gifts to our campus. The recently established Sabatte Family Scholarship will provide four years of tuition plus living expenses for up to 50 high-achieving undergraduates annually for the next 30 years! Strathearn Ranch, the newly announced University of California natural reserve, will be the seventh stewarded by our campus, offering invaluable ecological, educational, and research opportunities to UC students, faculty, and other researchers for generations to come. I am deeply grateful for such generosity.

I offer my congratulations to all those who will be graduating soon. Earning a degree is a momentous accomplishment worth celebrating. Know that your academic achievements, your resilience, and your pursuit of excellence are inspirational to all in our community.

Finally, my thanks to our dedicated faculty and staff for your essential contributions to our efforts to advance student success and research excellence. We shine as an institution because of the passion, expertise, and commitment you bring to UC Santa Cruz. I am endlessly proud of what we are accomplishing together.

Best wishes this holiday season,

Cindy
