Job Search Assistance Resources

After the news sinks in and you are ready to hit the “reset” button on your own job search, here are some handy resources to get you started.

Systemwide Resources:

  • UC Outplacement and Career Transition Services
This service is available at no cost for all transitioning employees for 6 months and includes access to career coaching, job matching and career assessments as well as resume development workshops, network building, and interview practice.  If interested, UCSC employees will reach out to tac‑group@ucsc.edu directly.  All services will be available through June 30, 2025.

Campus Resources:

  • My UC Career
This online development portal is available to all UC faculty, academic personnel, staff and students seeking to explore career options in the UC. Six self-paced modules help users discover their internal UC career mobility options, highlight their accomplishments, design a compelling story and identify and practice interview skills.
  • Workshops
The Talent Acquisition (TA) team within Staff HR conducts an Applicant Workshop which provides an overview of the recruitment and hiring process at UC Santa Cruz. Free and open to the public

**If you are a preferential rehire candidate (in your eligibility period) and will be attending this workshop, please contact the TA team ahead of time at hiring@ucsc.edu. They can include in the presentation, special instructions on how you can self-identify your interest in exercising your preferential rehire rights for certain jobs.

Our very own campus Department of Career Success, located on the 3rd floor of the Bay Tree Building, hosts many workshops on resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, interviewing, and more! While the target audience is geared towards Banana Slug students, the content, tips, and resource guides are beneficial for all and for any stage in one’s career.

Workshops will resume again in Fall Quarter, so check the Career Success Calendar to learn whether presentations will be conducted on campus or via Zoom.
